I became a business owner for all the wrong reasons. My career experience had been filled with frustration – frustration with my inability to get the education I desired while working for others. Frustration with my inability to make a living commensurate with the effort I was putting into my career. Frustration that the working world expected me to prioritize my job over my family.
I chose to become self-employed thinking that would alleviate all these problems. One year later this is what my life looked like:
I realized that I had traded an eight-hour-a-day job for a situation where I had more responsibility, and less time and freedom. And, based on the office structure there was little reason to think that much was going to change.
I was fortunate enough to run across a book that changed the future of my business. “E-Myth Revisited” by Michael Gerber helped me to realize that I was not running a business – I had bought a job. I became convinced that I could design a business that worked without me, not because of me. And so, the journey began.
Over the years my agency has grown in size and the structure has changed dramatically. Our processes are well defined, accountability is clear, and employees are self-sufficient and motivated.
We’ve designed processes that are managed appropriately so there is little need to manage people. I can literally leave the office for weeks at a time and know that everything is taken care of. I typically won’t even have any calls to return when I get back.
The seminars I’ve crafted and share with small business owners just like you are a culmination of all my growth and experience. My goal is to help you achieve the same success I have.
I look forward to working with you to achieve that goal -- Laura
